Remote Online Notary (RON)

I also am a Remote Online Notary (RON), a commissioned notary public who performs notarizations electronically using secure audio-visual technology instead of meeting clients in person. This modern approach allows individuals and businesses to complete important legal documents from anywhere with an internet connection, making notarization more accessible, efficient, and convenient.

A Remote Online Notary is similar to that of a traditional notary. The notary verifies the identity of the signer, ensures they are willing participants, and confirms they understand the document they are signing. However, instead of physically examining identification, a RON uses digital tools such as credential analysis and knowledge-based authentication (KBA) to validate a signer’s identity. These tools analyze government-issued IDs and ask security questions based on the signer’s personal history to ensure authenticity.

A remote online notary uses a secure digital platform. During a RON session, the notary and signer connect through live video conferencing. The session is recorded and stored as part of the notarial record, adding an extra layer of protection and accountability. Documents are signed electronically using e-signature technology, and the notary applies a digital seal and electronic signature to complete the notarization. RON services are especially valuable in industries such as real estate, legal services, and financial transactions, where timely document execution is critical. Additionally, remote notarization can improve customer satisfaction by reducing travel time and simplifying the signing process.
